Hello, I am Dr Brian Degger

I am a maker with a PhD in biotechnology and an passion for open practice/sharable expertise, grassroot software and science policy.

I specialise in unusual projects by working with artists in biological media.

For the last 12 years I have been working with artists, participating in workshops, hackdays(local and international), hack labs and residencies around the world amd developing my own technoscientific art practice and artistic voice.

I am also a founding member of the Maker Space in Newcastle upon Tyne, an active member of the North East England Maker community, the wider UK and the international.

as well as doing, I am a proponent of documentation, mapping and promotion of the communities I am a part of, and artist/writers/theorists I admire,
